In House FAQ's

Hello OBSA Parents!

We are now preparing for the 2020 OBSA Spring Baseball Season! For those of you new to OBSA Baseball, welcome! For our returning players and families, welcome back.

FAQ’s

For those of you that are new to OBSA or for those with return players, I have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions below. It's my hope that most of your questions can be answered here. Another great resource for information is the OBSA Facebook Page! If you have not done so already, please like us on Facebook!

                Question?

What is Spring In-house Baseball?

                Answer:

Spring In-house Baseball is recreational baseball comprised of randomly assigned teams based on age level. All skill levels are welcome to join and participate. Expect to have a handful of practices and 14 season games. (Shetland play 10 games).

                Question?

1.       Can I request for my player be on the same team as another player for carpooling purposes?

2.       Can I request for my player be on the same team as their friend?

3.       Can I request for my player to be on a certain coach’s team?

4.       Can I request for my player be on the same team as their friends from their travel baseball team?

5.       Can I request to have my player “play up” into the next division?

                Answer:

Unlike the Oswego Park District or the YMCA, OBSA is made up of volunteer moms and dads. OBSA will have hundreds of kids enrolled this Spring. With that said, OBSA does not have the administrative manpower to facilitate carpool or buddy requests when it comes to team assignments. Instead, teams are auto assigned though the website. Please do not ask for an exception as there are no exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

                Question?

What additional expenses should we expect? Uniforms, equipment, etc.?

                Answer:

Your OBSA registration fees cover games, practices, shirt, pants & hat. Your player should have a glove. Helmets are shared among the team. Some players buy their own helmets and bats.

                Question?

When practice start, and where is it held, approximately how many days during week?

                Answer:

Practice starts sometime around April 15th. No set dates are yet established.

                Question?

How often are practices?

                Answer:

Volunteer coaches are assigned a handful of practices prior to the start of the season. Coaches are welcome to hold additional practices, but since all coaches are volunteers, it's up to them to schedule additional practices based on their availability.

                Question?

When are practices & games and at what time?

                Answer:

Games and practices occur Monday through Thursday and Saturdays, in most cases, twice a week. Weeknight games start at 5:30 pm. Saturday games are at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm No games are scheduled on Friday or Sunday. On a very rare occurrence, rain-out makeup games might be scheduled on a Friday or Sunday.

                Question?

When does the season start/end?

                Answer:

Opening day will be in the last full week of April. Season will end around 07/01/2020.

                Question?

When are practice and game schedules distributed?

                Answer:

Practice and Game schedules are distributed in late March or early April.

                Question?

When will we find out what team our play is on?

                Answer:

                Question?

                Answer:

To sign up as a volunteer coach, please visit the OBSA website. All selected volunteers will go through a

background check.
