OBSA Announces Travel Managers for 2018!

OBSA Board of Directors has approved the slate of managers for the 2018 travel season. We are happy to announce seven of our 2017 Managers will be returning for 2018. They are:

10U Navy - Jeff Hernandez

11U Navy - Mike Smart

12U Navy - Gary Tickle

13U Grey - Brian Lauck

13U Navy - Steve Davis

14U Navy - Darrin Johnson

15U Navy - Todd Mielcraz

In addition to the returning coaches, OBSA is fortunate to be adding four new Managers to our travel program for the 2018 season. The addition of these four qualified coaches will have the end effect expanding our travel program from 8 teams in 2017 to 11 teams in 2018. Our new additions are:

14U Grey - Eric Rosenow: Eric Managed 14U - Black Reapers last year. He started coaching with the Reapers at 12U developing a core group of inhouse players into a solid KCBL Silver Division team having a 10-5 record. Eric, who is a former switch-hitting infielder at Northwestern University, has a passion for the game of baseball and embraces the challenge of developing young talent. We are happy to have Eric back with OBSA and helping in our travel program.

12U Grey - Shaun Currer - Shaun is OBSA veteran coaching Pinto through Bronco and has coached 9U-11U All Stars the last three years. He was also commissioner of Pinto/Shetland for OBSA this year. Shaun stepped forward to coach 12U Grey because he believes there are players within OBSA that are wanting to take the next step and play competitive travel baseball. He wants to do what he can to provide that opportunity and is looking forward to developing a second team at this age level.

11U Grey - Joe Flores - Joe has been very active in OBSA inhouse coaching Pinto and Mustang while also managing the 9U and 10U All-Stars. Joe's 10U All-Stars played in the Panther Prowl this year and played solid baseball giving 10U full time travel teams VERY competitive games. Like Shaun, Joe believes there are ample OBSA players ready to take a step up to Travel Baseball. Joe is looking forward to continuing to develop the boys he has worked with along with others that are wanting to develop their skills on a more competitive level.

9U Navy - Jack Klein - Jack coach 3 years of OBSA in-house before coaching WAA Competitive In-House. Jack played high school baseball and football in Oswego playing for Ken Pikcerill's Oswego Cats. He had opportunity to play college baseball and football choosing football. Outside of baseball Jack has coached football at area high schools including OEHS. He is a development first person and looking forward to working with a group of boys looking to improve their skills and play competitive ball. Alexx Dunk who also applied for the Manager position, will be assisting Jack. Alexx played high school ball at OEHS and played college baseball at Aurora University.
