Developmental 4s
The most fundamental concept of our "Developmental 4s" program is to recreate the environment where many of todays leading superstars claim to have learned the skills they needed to become a soccer great! We have taken the finer elements of soccer as it used to be- in the streets, playgrounds and public parks - and formulated a program that takes the structure of modern day Academy soccer.
Using research from the Manchester United 4v4 Pilot scheme, we have created a program in which young players are encouraged to experience:
1) Lots of touches on the ball
2) A relaxed environment where players enjoy having the ball at their feet, using this time as an opportunity to "experiment" without the fear of a coach/adult yelling at them for losing the ball.
3) Countless 1v1 and 2v1 situations, which are fundamental to the larger forms of the game (8v8 & 11v11).
4) An atmosphere where fun and enjoyment are the primary focus, with no results driven pressure.
5) Skills and game understanding which are all transferable as players progress to the 11v11 format further in their career.
Research suggests that combining these key elements leads to more success on the soccer field, far more positive experiences of soccer, and in the long term - accelerated player development, continued success and more participation amongst youngsters beyond the ages of 13/14.
Our developmental 4s program usually takes place in Spring, from March - mid April.
A Positive Environment for A Positive Experience!
