To guarantee a spot on a roster, you must register by Sunday, January 27, 2013.  Registrations received after that date, late registration fees apply.  Registrations received after January 27, 2013, will not be guaranteed a roster spot and will be placed on a roster on a first come, first served basis.

PONY BASEBALL & SOFTBALL

A local recreation league registered with the national Protect Our Nation's Youth (P.O.N.Y.) organization!

The goal of OBSA's spring baseball and softball programs is to provide current and aspiring baseball and softball players a safe, wholesome environment with a balanced mix of teaching fundamentals of the game, how to play competitively, teamwork, sportsmanship and generally conduct themselves with class and respect at all times.

Who Is Eligible:

OBSA is open to all students (boys and girls) in Oswego CUSD #308 or all (boys and girls) who reside within the boundaries of Oswego CUSD #308 as follows:

OBSA Pony Baseball ages 4 through 18

OBSA Pony Softball ages 6 through 16

•     Baseball teams will be organized by age groups above according to age as of  April 30^th 2013

• Softball teams will be organized by age groups above according to age as of  December 31^st 2012

*Age Level is determined by 1) if you are the age [ ] by April 30^th, 2013 (baseball) or by December 31, 2012 (softball), you will play in that level. For example: if you are 6 years of age today and will be 7 years of age by [ ] by April 30^th, 2013 (baseball) or by December 31, 2012 (softball), you can play at the Pinto or Rookie level, or 2) If you are 14 years of age by April 30^th, 2013 (baseball) or by December 31, 2012 (softball) and are a freshman in high school, you can play at the lowest eligible level or you can play at the next higher level (intended for high school age participants) or you can play both but must pay both fees.

2013 Season: 

• In order to be guaranteed a roster spot, you must complete your son and or daughters registration by January 27, 2013.
• Season will consist of 14 games, 1 game on a weekday and one game Saturday or Sunday
• With the exception of OBSA Shetland Baseball and Rookie Softball, all other teams are "kid pitch"
• Season runs March 26^th and runs approximately 15 weeks
• Shetland, Pinto and Rookie Team Rosters will be selected randomly, no car pool requests please. Siblings in the same age group will be placed on same team
• Mustang, Minor, Bronco, AAA, Pony, and Major participants are required to attend evaluations. Siblings in the same age group will be placed on same team, unless otherwise requested.

** 2013 Fees include two (2) $10 raffle tickets through Chevy Youth Baseball's Chevy Vehicle-Giveaway Fundraiser sponsored by Ron Westphal Chevrolet!  Each parent will receive two (2) raffle tickets to keep or sell.  Each ticket holder will be eligible to win the grand prize (a choice of one of two Chevrolet vehicles chosen by Chevrolet) or one first place prize (last year's prize was an entertainment center).  The grand prized will be drawn from tickets sold within Ron Westphal Chevrolet's region.  The first place prize will be drawn from tickets sold within the Chicagoland area.  In addition to the prizes above, all OBSA tickets sold will be eligible to win an ipad 2.  OBSA will again pick three winners from the tickets sold by OBSA members only.  In all, OBSA ticket holders will have five chances to win!  For those of you new to OBSA, everyone in OBSA is eligible to attend a Chevy Youth Baseball clinic at either Wrigley Field or US Cellular field.  We had 75 boys and or girls who were lucky enough last year to get the chance to attend.  This is a great sponsorship and we thank Ron Westphal Chevrolet in selecting our organization to be the beneficiary. Specific details on this program will be provided once the raffle tickets are received.

Payment Plan: 

OBSA will offer a payment plan as follows:

1^st payment = 30% down, 2^nd payment due Jan 15*, and 3^rd and final payment due Feb 15* Payments are not automatically deducted.  You need to monitor your fees through your OBSA MYL account.

*Registration payment dates: 1^st payment (30% down) for all registrations completed between Dec 7, 2012 and Jan 15, 2013, any registrations received after Jan 15, 2013, will require two payments to be paid in order to complete registration.  Registrations received after Jan 23, 2013 and before Jan 27, 2013 will be assessed a $25.00 late fee.  Any registration received after January 27, 2013 will be assessed a late fee and conditionally accepted with full payment due upon registration.  Conditionally accepted registrations will be placed on a waiting list.  Conditionally accepted applicants will be placed on a team on a first come first served basis. Final payments will be due on or before February 15, 2013.  Players will not be issued uniforms or allowed to practice or play unless all fees are paid. 

Late Fee:  A $25 per player late fee will be assessed if a player is not registered by JANUARY 22, 2013.  This is to encourage all parents to register their child by this date in order for the organization to submit league uniform orders that will guarantee timely delivery and allow the organization to make the appropriate coaching assignments.  Parents, please pass the word around that registration is open and that January 22, 2013 is last date before a late fee will be assessed.

Waiting List:  Any registration received after January 27, 2013 will be conditionally accepted and are not guaranteed a spot on a team.  Conditionally accepted registrations will be placed on a waiting list.  Conditionally accepted applicants will be placed on a team on a first come first served basis.  In the event we are unable to place your child on a team, your registration fee, less any online registration processing fees charged to OBSA.

Equipment:  OBSA will provide each participant with a t-shirt, pant, cap and or visor.  OBSA will also provide team equipment, including team bag, helmets, catching equipment, including catcher's mitt, two bats, practice balls, game balls, scorebook and first-aid kits.  Parents are encouraged to purchase their own helmets, mouth-guard, cleats (see below), facemask (for softball) bat and glove.  NOTE:  Only rubber/plastic cleats are allowed in OBSA In-House Baseball and Softball.  The only exception would be OBSA's Colt/Palomino League. 

Allowed Bats:  OBSA's Colt/Palomino League bats must be BBCOR certified, no less than drop three (-3) and no wider in diameter than 2 5/8" i.e. IHSA regulation.  For OBSA In-house baseball, no bat shall be wider in diameter than 2 5/8" and in 2013, all bats must have the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp on the bat.  OBSA DOES NOT ALLOW ANY 2 3/4" BATS
